Honeybuns

I received a beautiful and hugely exciting parcel in the post today from the lovely Em & Lottie of Honeybuns. It was like opening a birthday present (except better...I don't remember anyone ever buying me cakes in a gorgeous little tin for any of my birthdays!)

Both Toby and I loved the cakes we have tried so far, Toby's favourite was the cranberry one and mine the lemon polenta...yum yum...

Also they are all gluten free so I am going to order a little tin to be sent to my Brother-in-law's Aunt as she misses out on so many gorgeous foodie things and these she will be able to eat!!

Click on the bumble bee to visit their shop...

Thanks Lottie ;)

I couldn't take my eyes off the news today. To see my city and others in the country being destroyed again, this time by their own people, just breaks my heart. I thought Manchester had well and truely got back on her feet and was dancing after we watched her being blown apart. But the last few days have once knocked her knees out from under her. I can't stand it.

So I have retreated from the news, mixed rosewater into whipped cream & crumbled meringues, added bilberries & raspberries and sat in front of DVDs this evening. I can hear lemonade calling as we speak. I may crush the rest of the raspberries into it...a little bit of pink is good for the soul.

I hope tonight is calmer.

Summertime biscuits & cakes

I was looking through my camera sorting photos from both Sunday & our trip to my Aunt's and I came across these from over the last couple of months.

Everyday biscuits we make from Toby's choice of our collection of cutters, biscuits for my sister's birthday lunch and the cake I made for Toby's 3rd birthday ;)

Nighty night xx

I seem unable to switch off completely so I spent a lot of this afternoon cuddling Hepburn and playing with photo and video tools on my phone...here is evidence of the day! The curtains are in my bedroom, made from pinned vintage lace, runners, cloths and pillowcases, and the little black cat is the ladyship herself keeping me company. Bless ;)

Thomas & the Steam Railway

Two nights with no sleep, getting work finished and adding to my to do list at a frightening rate, followed by a day packed with steam trains, an overexcited 3 year old, Thomas the Tank Engine, face painting, tram and train journeys, punch and Judy shows, a 3/4 hour wait at Manchester Victoria and a 2 mile walk (trudge??) home at the end left me asleep by 7.30...and I didn't wake until 9.30 this morning...

So today is a day of catching up with washing, napping and watering plants, oh and cheese and pickle sandwiches because cooking for myself just seems too much effort today.

But as promised here are a few of the photos I took yesterday amidst all the excitement, I spent a while this morning procrastinating by editing them and making them look vintage...I'll post more tomorrow.

and a video...watch out, it's loud!

I warned you ;)

I love the way Toby shouts goodbye to Thomas when it isn't Thomas at all! Too much for a little boy (we rode on Thomas and Percy later...photos tomorrow)

After the frantic day I had yesterday I wanted a slower pace and a break today so we decamped into the garden. Whilst Toby climbed up and slid down his slide over and over, I checked my plants, weeded and dug in the sun.

Aubergines,

raspberries,

cucumbers,

tomatoes,

and carrots.

I think they need a bit more time, no?!

We then retired inside to shell peas, blanch them and eat them with crumbled feta, a drizzle of olive oil and some crusty homemade bread. Heaven, total heaven.

I did find a few minutes to put up my Mollie Makes cover and article though ;)

We are off to see Thomas the Tank Engine tomorrow at the East Lancs Steam Railway..secretly I think I am as excited as Toby...

Speak to you tomorrow

Mollie Makes and ITV

This has been quite a week. My first magazine front cover and being a guest on the pilot of a new ITV show...I've never been in a TV studio before, or had cars waiting for me with my name in the window. Was ridiculously exciting!

I'm trying to resist the temptation to jump up and down, though Toby and I did a little biscuit dance earlier...he made me, naturally, I'm far too grown up for such activities ;)

Anyone fancy something stronger? Make mine a G&T.

Welcome to my new home ;)

Grab a chair, pick a cake and get yourself comfy. I'll pour you a cup of tea...milk??

In about 5 hours my mother and sister are due with two cars packed full of spare duvets, the dog, and plenty of bottles of wine (and packets of biscuits) ready to whisk us and the children for a trip to my Aunt's and the great British seaside. It will rain, in fact it will almost definitely will probably lash it down constantly until Monday, but we will soldier on and hope that at least the donkeys are still there and the wonderfully tacky promenade shops still stock bright plastic buckets and spades ;) I will endeavour to return with photos, stories and some new inspiration to start populating this, my new little slice of the internet.

Please come and visit me on monday when I will start writing again about my work, my life, garden, little boy and life in general. Plus, of course, food....and most of that will be cake, and biscuits!

Have a fabulous weekend....
